View Full Version : oil sending unit
It is very cold out today and I want to get my oil sending unit hooked up
But I've looked (online and off) for some information on where to screw this thing into
cause I'm trying not to be outside that long (very very cold out today)

what do you mean hooked up?? the oil pressure sending unit on your block is the sensor in the bottom of the block closest to the driverside. Jack the car up, look above the axle. The sensor all the way to the right is the crank angle sensor, the middle sensor is a knock sensor, to its left is the oil pressure sending unit. did you buy an oil pressure guage??
this is my gauge

Look where Chad told you. On a 4G63, the sending unit is on the oil filter housing but I'm sure its where Chad says on the 420A. The factory sending unit is probably a little more bulb shaped than your new Autometer one but it will screw directly in place of the old one.

I also put one of these on, make sure when you go to put the unit on you do not over tighten the unit. I did and crack the oil filter housing, and it wasnt fun putting a new one back on you actually have to cherry pick the engine just to get to one of the bolts!Oh yeah thanks jaime for that oil filter housing saved me about $60.00!

its the one w/ the green plug. and that brass piece is what you will need to tap the guage in. w/o it your outta luck. i think jay said he bought one at jegs, other than that i'd say you need to get one from a turbo kit manufacturer. our oil pressure sending unit is different than the 4g63 kids, we don't have that piece already on the block , just the sensor in the pic.
aaaaaaaaaah shi.................t I thought about picking up a splitter block and didn't!!!!!!!
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh...................... well looks like a trip to the hardware store for me
thanks for the pic Chad....... :D
