I just got off the phone with ERS and ordered my crank kit, and it will be in Tuesday. They said they need my old crank first though. I was wondering if anyone could possibly come down this weekend and help me get it out! I'll get pizza or whatever for anyone who is willing to help me :) the motor is out and the oil pan is off. PLEASE pm me if you would like to help! Thanks guys

With a little more notice I could have helped you out. You have to pull the motor to get the crank out. Who is ERS? What all comes with a crank kit? How many miles are on your motor Amanda?

the motor was already pulled awhile ago when i was planning on rebuilding it. ERS= Engine Rebuilders Supply on harrisburg pike. just the new crank and bearings are in the kit. not to bad for 150. i stilll have to get my block hot tanked and get a few other parts. but im hoping by next weekend

Yeah thats a good deal. I may be looking those guys up in a few months when i pull mine out. My suggestion is to turn the wrenches by yourself girl, its a good time to learn how to do it since you have it out and on an engine stand. You will have a new found respect for your car when you work on stuff yourself and it comes out working just right.

You can do everything by yourself... you have the smarts girl you just need to know that you can use them. Trust me youre a lot better of a person than a lot of people would have you believe.

Who are you taking your block to to have it worked on? The only reason I ask, is because the machine shop right next to ERS is crap. Do not let them work on it. The screwed two of my motors and dropped (not kidding) my cousins motor. It broke all the spark plugs on one side, bent the fly wheel and dented the hell out of the oil pan. Everytime they did not want to fix, or pay to have it fixed. I know of a good shop if you dont have one in mind.

*My 2 cents on ERS*
VERY cheap
The parts they will sell you are usually crap.
The machine shop does suck. some of the stuff that they need to do they actually send parts out for you to get it done, instead of them doing it i was told they would do my crank work i kept calling asking process they kept blowing me off. Turned out they send it out but the guy was on vacation.
I was told it was going to be 250 to put my bottom end together went to pick it up it turned out to be 490!
friendliness sucks to "young punks" like me
all in all i like performance research much better.

I know Performance Research has a line hone machine and a crank micro-polisher machine. That is where I took my block 2 years ago. They were conviently close to my house.
The only other place that I would go to would be that M&M place up near Delaware, OH that people have been talking about.
If Fowler calls your block a "Baby 4" that is enough reason in itself to turn around and walk out of their store and go somewhere else.

For me performance research is worth the drive i was happy with everything.
yea i have heard some things from a few different people not liking fowler.
As for M&M i have never had them do work for me but the guy who runs it has done alot of side work for me because he also does work at the shop where my car is so i know he does good work.

Why not take it somewhere closer than Delaware? Phillips Racing Engines in grove city has been creating some buzz as of lately. Mike Phillips is the owner/operator of the facility and i've heard from numberous guys lately that his work is top notch. Hes done work for IPS and Slowmotion as of late and i've heard good reports from Jeff about the stuff they've picked up from him. He will be doing my work when i get the motor pulled. A very close mechanic friend of mine is trusting this guy w/ 10g's of his money and a expensive ls6 block that hes building for him. Give him a look see.
