dumb question
woud 245/45-17 tires (what is typically found on a cobra)
fit on any reasonable wheel setup on a dsm?
I ask because I could buy a nice set of tires of the above description for super cheap and hang onto them until I got wheels for them if this is at least remotely a possibility. (<---run-on) ; )

Stock 17... nope. I squeezed some 235/45s on and that was about the limit in the rear. With an aftermarket 17x8-ish rim and an offset <+40, you should be ok. At that point you may also need to roll the fender.

yep, you would need to roll it. My 18's are 8" wide, and I needed to roll them ever so slightly.
