WTF just happened?

Driving down I-75 with the cruise control set to 71mph. All of a sudden I saw a flicker of motion on my dash. I look down and the tach says ZERO! I immediately flip off the cruise and slow down to about 60. Everything is still running fine while this is going on. About 30sec. later, the tach goes back to where it was. WTF!? wtf That freaked me the heck out. Anyone know what it could be? I believe the ECU has been 'capped'.

yeah my sht does that.....its called an electrical problem. mine happens to be in the floorboard so everytime you kick/bump it...your gauges go nuts..then the car radio resets....good times

Ok, its probably not the ECU because the E-01 still reads the RPM correctly. However, it did it again on the drive back today and it just so happened when I put my foot down right next to the fuse box. Radio still was fine, but the gauge still at zero. Come back on........eventually.

I dont know what year your car is but the 90's have a tach adapter that is mounted on the intake. If it is loose or broken the tach will not read. Check the connector and you will probably find it.
