alright guys i have the 420a and im really stubborn so no matter how many times you tell me not to do i really do have my heart set on turboing this car
my greatgrandpa bought it for me before he died, so i really want to devote this car to him and hopefully give it to my kids one day. a few questions when i buy fuel pump water pump and all the other bolt on goodies do i buy the turbo eclipse models or what. i know the make internals for the 420a which would be the obvious buy but what about everything else exhast manifold intake manifold and tranny stuff, etc etc...

So... you're asking if you buy 420A parts or 4G63 parts for your 420A :confused

I hope you've realized the answer by now.

" Without my Eclipse there would be no reason to live!"

You really should consider counseling.

It's completely fricken different. The 420a engine is not even a Mitsubishi engine. It's mounted completed opposite in the engine compartment. It's not the same tranny. All the boltons are completely different.

The wiring harness is completely different between the NT and turbo cars. The ECU's are not even the same. The exhaust is completely different (However, a GST catback will bolt right up). The radiators are different. The stock stereos are different unless you got one that had the Infinity upgrade.

The only commonality between the NT and turbo cars is probably the body, the brake booster, the anti-lock brake system (if it's there), the headlights/foglights/tailights, the brake fluid reservoir, the front brakes (matching the GST models), the rear GS brakes matching the turbo models, the suspension minus the sway bars.

If you want to devote your car to your greatgrandpa then don't modify the car and stop blowing money on it.

No offense but from what you posted you sound like a young kid who doesn't know much about cars (other than what you've seen in the Fast and Furious). But if you really desire to turbo your 420A go for it, and let us know how much a waste of time and money it was when you get it done and it's still a horrible daily driven DSM. BTW what year and color is thecar? And is it even a 5 speed?

or basically do i just rebuild the internals rods, pistons, piston rings, valves, cams, cam gears, and then a turbo kit will provide the rest or what?
do i even need a knew crank to support the new pistons?

You have alot of research to do. This topic has been discussed deeply in the past and im sure we're not the only online forum to do so, but nevertheless use the "search" funtion at the top of your screen and you can find out the answer's for yourself.

Jamie i don't honestly think he's asking if he should buy 4g63 parts for his 420a (or at least i hope he's not asking that) i think he MEANS should he OR is there upgraded parts such as oil pump/water pump for his motor that he should consider. The answer is no, stick with OEM for those particular component's. But this is one of those tricky question's that could've been answered using the "search" function.

goodluck.

In this very section there is a sticky, written by myself, that explains pretty much what your asking. Few things have changed since this has been written. Use the resources available to you before asking the same newb questions that every other person wanting to turbo a 420a does.
