Banned?

Just curious as to the hows/whys of getting banned around here? This is in no way flame-bait at all but just an honest-to-goodness question. Someone asks and then pretty much demands to have a few "IPS" customers sign up and when just one does he gets banned? For what reason? Because he didnt like his posts getting edited/deleted?

Seems threatening someone (or multiple people in this case) is perfectly fine but wanting to race someone is cause for being banned?

Just curious as to the hows / whys other than "we dont like you, you are banned" :rolleyes:

Yeah, i understood that, but 95% of this board doesnt like me for whatever reason but its no reason to ban me :idunno

So the short answer is you can get banned for virtually no reason while others can openly break the rules and not even have to stand in the corner -- makes sense to me i guess...

What rule was broken? I guess thats what i was getting at -- where is the line in the sand to getting banned?

I have no personal issues with Jon or you for that matter but the guys are right. He only signed up to instigate a race, which isn't that big of a deal, but he pissed off one of the mods today by posting about 7 identical threads so the problem was handled. We're on here ever day dealing with crap, we pay for the space and we can moderate as we see fit.

I'm on CR with the rest of you guys, if Jon wants to set something up with JP i'll get in touch with him and they can handle it through email or something. Nobody wants another 15 page pissing match. BTW I have the phone number of the million fah-fillion horsepower porsche owner and I'm hoping to get a dyno sheet or something so we can lay that to rest as well. Stay tuned.

The thread was going nowhere and was moved for a reason. If he wanted to continue to instigate a race with Coltboostin, it could have been taken to PMs. He should have been mature enough to get the hint the first 3 times but he continued to repost new threads.

There's already a well known forum in Columbus for that kind of crap and thats fine. Its not what we're about here.

Perhaps a more logic approach by the staff would have been a PM stating what was happening, and what was expected.

I realize that one would think it would be common sense to not to continue to post after each was deleted.. however it is also childish ti continue to delete/modfy a person's threads without giving them some sort of warning/notification that their actions are not correct.

Jamie is right (though mildly retarded) in that you pay for the bandwidth, so you can do as you please... however you would do better to run this under a set guidline. It would promote better club unity, and would not give off the appearance of favoritism.

Sadly Jeff is correct. You let it slide when someone blatently comes out and say he is going to come down and physically assult someone.. without so much as a slap on the wrist. That IMO is some serious shit right there.

Which is why when I am voted in as a new moderator here, I promise nothing but fair and ethical treatment to all! Except.. stupid people...

Agreed, but was anyone mature enough to shoot him a PM or post in the thread and say to take it to PMs yada yada or did they just edit/delete and edit/delete to get him repost so many times in the first place?

I'm wondering, does this preferential treatment come standard with payment of membership dues?

Rules are great and are obviously needed to keep any forum in line. Making sure that everybody adheres to them, mods included, with at least the appearance of consistency is probably too much to expect.

I remember a few people complaining in one of the other threads about some of us ?pretending that colDSM doesn?t exist?. Well when ignoring of certain people?s posts, and the editing/deleting/twisting of other posts seems to be a regular practice, with bannings based on popularity instead of actual rule-breaking, it's really not hard to wonder why there isn?t more participation and interest in what goes on over here.

I thought that 15 page thread was the most entertaining thread have I read on here in a very long time. :beer

I don't give a fuck about what any of you guys think about our decisions. I didn't have time to send him a PM telling him what an immature douchebag he was being for posting the same thing 7 times. I got a phone call from another mod telling me what happened and I banned him. I'm busy at work right now and had intended on sending him a PM through CR tonight when I had time to explain why it happened.

I don't feel we need to spell out the obvious to people because, frankly, it hasn't been an issue in the past. For the record, Coltboostin and Gunner aren't "paid" members here either. This is a DSM enthusiast website not a street racing site. Like I said before, go to CR and call me or anyone else out if that's your agenda. Perhaps you guys should do a search on Coltboostin and Gunner's posts and see the technical information that they contribute to our site. That is what we're about.

Theres no need to turn this into another long drawn out thread so let it go. Jon and Jp and Dan were all told to take it to pm's by 3 different mods in those 19 pages of crap. If Jon was pissed the thread was locked and moved he could have handled it in a different mannor as well instead of posting the same thing 8 different times. Its 6 in one, half dozen another. Anyone who feels the situation was unjustly handled is more than welcome to send anyone of the mods a pm. Thanks for your cooperation and hope everyones day is just awsome.

If you haven't noticed Gunner has been an active forum member for the last 4 years and has showed up to more meets and track days than 90% of people on the forum. I know you've been around longer than that, but you dissappeared and expect the club to bow down to your mad skillz??? People that we know, respect, and actually deal with in person have more leniency.
